Market Collection
A History of Farming
Like all Pillitteri wines, the Market Collection is grown in the heart of Canada’s fruitland and the home to our family’s farm market. On December 15th, 1965 Gary and Lena Pillitteri settled in Niagara-on-the-Lake to raise their family. They purchased a fruit farm on Niagara Stone Road. In 1973 they opened Gary’s Fruit Market. Soon after the first Niagara wineries opened, Gary took the initiative and began planting wine grapes, starting the first of the family’s Niagara vineyards. The grapes are still meticulously tended to by the Pillitteri family, producing premium local wines to drink and enjoy with your family.
Gary’s Fruit Market
The Market Collection of wines showcases the history and heritage of “Gary’s Fruit Market”. Depicting the history of the market from the first roadside cart in the 1960’s, the first market building, built in 1975 and the market at the opening of the winery in 1993. The market is still a part of Pillitteri Estates Winery and when in season, fresh fruits are sold in the original market area of the winery. Each bottle of Market Collection wine celebrates this history, it is fitting that the Market Collection of wines are approachable, food friendly, easy to pair wines. The wines go well with a wide variety of meals and have broad appeal. They are some of the most popular wines in our collection.
